I guess Mafi remembered that they existed and gave them dialogue lines. I guess? The crew from Omega Point was actually relevant in this one. The other kids of the supreme leaders were helpful at some points, but mostly just sort of. While Kenji was trying to add light to dark times and trying to keep his friends and found family together and safe, all the other major characters were off undoing their character development.Īdam is still irrelevant in this book so let's not even mention him. No wonder Kenji was constantly on the verge of a breakdown in this novel, the poor boy was carrying the whole story on his back! Some of the complaints were justified (calling out the problematic issues) but it was still a jarring experience for me. After I published it, I read a few reviews that eviscerated the books. When I was first writing the My Blood Approves Saga, I loved it completely. That led me to have a difficult relationship with these books. While much of the original book was a fun vampire romp, there were also unfortunate moments of misogyny, body-shaming, and ablism, among other problematic elements.
